ABB is a global leader in power and automation technologies. The company’s Azipod propulsion system for ships has set electric propulsion standards, delivering safety, environmental and cost benefits in the marine industry. ABB was looking for a new way to present Azipod XL, the latest version of its market-leading technology, in events and tradeshows.
Advertising agency Bob the Robot, responsible for creating an overall concept, turned to Stereoscape for creating an interactive solution with photorealistic 3D animation. Stereoscape’s expertise in virtual reality allowed an answer to ABB’s needs that went one step further.
Using ABB’s existing CAD models Stereoscape produced a virtual underwater showroom that lets the viewers truly experience the unique features and benefits of the technology.
To put the content to multi-platform use, an interactive touchscreen presentation for exhibitions and a video for wider delivery on desktops, laptops and mobile devices were also created.
To easily provide the immersive VR experience in versatile settings, ABB has acquired several sets of Stereoscape’s VR-in-a-Box equipment. With the portable equipment, the VR experience can be set up quick and easy wherever, also by personnel with no specific technical experience in VR.
