Client testimonial:
“Stereoscape’s interactive experiences have become popular highlights of Aurora Revelare, with visitors regularly queuing to try the exhibits. The exhibition has welcomed more than 20,000 visitors, exceeding our expectations and attracting strong media interest. Visitors have praised its beautiful visuals, thoughtful focus on the northern lights and calm, engaging atmosphere. The interactive elements fit naturally into a cohesive exhibition that feels spacious and inviting, giving visitors room to explore and connect with the phenomenon.”
Jukka Pitkänen, Exhibition manager, Tiima
Everyone recognises the northern lights. Far fewer could say what causes them. Solar wind, magnetism and charged particles are difficult to picture, and more difficult still to explain to an audience that runs from school groups to visiting adults. Tiima wanted an exhibition where myths, northern beliefs and current research sit together, and where the science feels as approachable as the phenomenon itself.
Stereoscape designed and delivered eleven interactive experiences, developed in workshops with Tiima’s exhibition team. Visitors guide the solar wind, paint magnetic fields with their hands, and find the Sun on a luminous sphere. An aurora harp turns light into sound, and the smells of space give the subject a dimension visitors do not expect.
The experiences are built into Aurora Revelare at Tiima in Oulu. Touchscreens, projections, VR and hands-on exhibits each take a different route to the same subject, alongside a Deep Space experience, and a space weather station connects the exhibition to what the Sun is doing that day.
Visitors leave having done something, not only having looked at something. Forces that cannot be seen become visible and testable, and the explanation sits alongside the wonder instead of replacing it. As part of the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme, the exhibition reaches local and international visitors.
