Helping customers grasp the value of lumber-handling technology, fast

Client testimonial:

“The first feedback I received from the Trä & Teknik expo was very positive. Our sales team loved the experience and felt that it made it easy to engage with potential customers. It also proved to be an interesting element at our booth. I was happy to hear that, as it means it worked exactly as intended.”

Challenge

Jartek used to present its lines through animations, videos, PowerPoint slides and brochures, each kept in a different place. At a trade show, every visitor wanted something different. Some wanted the videos, some the technical details, some the drawings, and finding the right material for each person took time on a busy floor. Jartek was also preparing to expand into North America alongside its existing business.

“Before this interactive showroom, we used animations, videos, PowerPoint slides and brochures to show our equipment and solutions. It was quite fragmented, and on the trade show floor that takes time. It’s easier to have everything in one place.”

Solution

Stereoscape brought everything into one interactive 3D showroom of the complete sorting and packaging line. The viewer moves from a full-line overview down to individual components, with hotspots that open text, images and video on the parts that matter to them. Jartek supplied its 3D files, videos, technical details and photos. Stereoscape turned the engineering models into visuals close to real life.

“Stereoscape really made those 3D files look more polished and more like real life. They were not technical drawings anymore, they were almost like a live video.”

Jartek’s main question going in was whether lines this long and detailed would be easy enough for customers to explore on their own. The answer came with the first draft.

“The best part of the process, and the biggest surprise, was when I first got the first draft and tried it out myself. It was a really cool thing to see how our business started to come together.”

How it's used

Trade shows have been the main use so far. Visitors explore the showroom themselves when the sales team is busy, or a salesperson walks them through the line. The sales team has since started using it in meetings, on site and online. It opens in a desktop browser from a single URL and also runs offline from a PC where there is no connection. Jartek plans to add it to its website.

“It looks very attractive and it’s very intuitive to use, so it’s easy for customers to start using it by themselves if our sales guys are not available. Or our sales guys can walk customers through our production lines.”

Outcomes

All of Jartek’s product material now sits in one place, and the sales team can go straight to the part of a line that addresses a customer’s own problem. Jartek already has ideas for new content as its products develop. The 3D assets built for the showroom can be reused for videos and product imagery across other channels.

“With this interactive 3D presentation, it’s easier to find a common language with the customer, whether they want more technical details or more videos and animations. And it’s easier to show the parts of the production line where the customer’s problems are.”
